On 21 October 2024, in Meeting Room 10, 10th floor, the Kasetsart Golden Jubilee Administration and Information Center Building, Kasetsart University, Bangkhen Campus, Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat, Acting President of Kasetsart University along with KU administrators, namely Prof. Dr.Dokrak Marod, Vice President for Research and Internationalization; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad, Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Mrs. Hathaitus Semchuchot, Acting Director of International Affairs Division; and IAD representatives welcomed the delegation from Dong-A University, South Korea, led by Lee, Hae-woo, President; Jun, Mira, Dean of the Office of Academic Affairs; Shin, Sang Mun, Dean of the Office of Admissions; Ro, Young Jin, Ex-Dean of the Office of Planning; Park, Hyuntae, Dean of the Office of International Affairs; and Yang, Hyeri, Coordinator of the Office of International Affairs on the occasion of visiting Kasetsart University to discuss collaboration.
Dong-A University was founded in 1946, making it close in age to Kasetsart University (founded in 1943). It offers education through 11 colleges, 3 schools, 7 graduate schools, etc. It is the 13th largest university in South Korea, with over 20,000 students enrolled, more than 230,000 alumni, and over 1,800 international students from 338 institutions in 40 countries worldwide. Notably, Dong-A University signed an MoU with Kasetsart University in 2012.
During the discussion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad proposed 2 collaboration pathways: one with the Korean Business Program under the Department of Eastern Languages, Faculty of Humanities at KU, and the other with the Department of Music, Faculty of Humanities at KU. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chamaipak Maiklad will introduce Dong-A University to the Faculty of Humanities. Additionally, Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat suggested that KU could invite the Dong-A University band to perform at KU. In return, Kasetsart Winds, KU's wind symphony band, could perform at Dong-A University. Both parties agreed to renew the MoU at Dong-A University in 2025, during Dr. Chongrak Wachrinrat's planned visit to South Korea.
